If anybody asks me, why should someone laud Allah Rakha Rahman?

I will pause. Of course to glorify silence.

And will definitely not say he is one of the greatest minds in the Indian music industry, nor will I defend his position as a musical maestro.

My words may never describe, how his fusion of different genres with Sub-continental genres makes the auditory experience divine.

I will just say,” Kun Faya Kun”.

For this alone, you must eulogize his genius, adore his style and listen obviously to his best if not the most popular one, “Kun Faya Kun”.

I echo what he said sometime last year, quoting Rumi, Out beyond ideas of wrong and right, there is a place. And this is the place where heart and mind connect. Kun Faya Kun is a phrase from the Quran which describe how God created the universe.

When A. R. Rahman was asked by Imtiaz to compose a song with this phrase, A. R. Rahman horrifiedly asked, whether he planned to destroy him. Since, this sacred, some might argue the most sacred phrase from Quran, carries a colossal connotation that anyone with proper understanding may never try to play with. Even a hint of disrespect may be considered blasphemous and corrupt.

And when you don’t know how your composed music will be used to create lyrics and cast them for a Bollywood movie, you will be super afraid.

Imtiaz, though not a hardcore believer, ultra level practising, as a Muslim confirmed him saying, “No worries, I will definitely be respectful”, which he did through his words and actions.

We have a commonality in the understanding of truth, despite having different sources for learning the truth. Our inner self resonates with the truth. The song, “Kun Faya Kun” applaud that commonality.

So, why you should adore A.R. Rahman?

Answer is Kun Faya Kun.

Be and it is..

Be and it is…
